Manhattan Bridge
Early 2010 Skanska will start replacing the bridge’s suspension structures, as well as the so-called necklace lighting on the bridge’s two exterior suspender cables. This contract, valued at USD 150 M, is Skanska’s third for the bridge since 2000. The Manhattan Bridge, connecting western Brooklyn with southeastern Manhattan, was opened to traffic on December 31, 1909. Today, it is the most heavily trafficked of all the East River spans.
